Community Update – Theft Prevention in Residential Areas |
Dear residents,
Over the past month, there have been a small number of thefts reported from communal areas of flats and residential gardens within the local area. The majority of incidents involve bicycles and other easily accessible property. Your local Safer Neighbourhood Team is actively patrolling and working to identify those responsible. However, we would also like to take this opportunity to share some simple crime prevention advice to help reduce the risk of further incidents:
Crime Prevention Advice: * Always secure bicycles with a strong D-lock to a fixed and immovable object, even in communal hallways or storage areas. * Where possible, store bicycles inside your property rather than in shared or external spaces. * Ensure communal entrances and garden gates close securely behind you and are not left propped open. * Avoid leaving tools, garden equipment, or valuables unattended in gardens or sheds. * Consider installing motion-activated lighting or CCTV where appropriate. * Mark valuable items with a property marking kit or register them on a recognised property database. We also encourage residents to report any suspicious activity immediately, including individuals acting suspiciously around communal entrances or gardens. Your awareness and vigilance make a real difference in preventing further offences. Thank you for your continued support. Local Safer Neighbourhood Team
